What is Universal Analytics?

Universal Analytics is an advanced Google Analytics standard. From now on, in this documentation, “Google Analytics” will refer the service as a whole, and “Universal Analytics” will refer to the fully configured tool itself.

  • Google recommends creating a new Universal Analytics account for each site.*

If you already have a Universal Analytics account, you can go to "Configuring Ecommerce Tracking for Universal Analytics Account".

Help for creating a Universal Analytics account

After you create a Universal Analytics account, you will be automatically redirected to your Google profile page, which will display the name of the site you want to track, and your Universal Analytics account number in the UA-XXXXXXXX-X format. This code is called the "Google Analytics Web Property ID" and is unique to each property you track.
